Adsorption Services - How can we help you?

ARI assists a wide range of customers in a variety of industries. Examples of ARI's clients and the services that ARI provides to them are listed below:

End-Users of Adsorption Technologies Commonly an organization will seek to design a unit operation to serve a specific need. For example, a client may want to use adsorption to purify a liquid or gas stream or to recover a component. In this instance ARI will be engaged for consulting and research and development activities to determine the best adsorbent, flowsheet, and operating conditions for accomplishing this task. Virtually all cases involve experiments, computer simulations, and in many cases the development of novel processes.

A current project that we are able to discuss is the work we are doing for the U.S. Army involving air purification devices. In their present form, the air purification devices currently available for use in a field hospital setting and in military units such as tanks and personnel carriers are heavy and bulky in size. To remedy this problem the U.S. Army has engaged ARI. Our task is to find a way to substantially reduce the size and weight of these air purification units as well as to reduce the amount of power they consume.

Adsorbent Manufacturers In this instance we work directly with the manufacturer of a specific adsorbent, i.e. activated carbon, activated aluminum, silica gel, zeolite, etc. Typically, ARI will be engaged to provide an evaluation of the product and/or to help the company determine an application where their product would be useful.

For example, some adsorbent manufacturers have turned to ARI for an objective assessment of their product by a respected third-party. In those instances where we were able to issue favorable reports, they have proved to be valuable sales tools.

Manufacturers and Processors Equipment Manufacturers and processors of commodity chemicals and industrial gases will often call upon ARI to help in the design of equipment, to develop a process to do a specific separation or to help make an existing process more efficient and effective. ARI may be called upon to perform process design and engineering, to provide CAD drawings, to procure equipment, to program control systems, and to start-up the plant.

As an example, ARI has helped companies develop and engineer plants design units for natural gas upgrading, helium purification, sulfur dioxide recovery, air separation, liquid drying, and many more. ARI has successfully completed many complex laboratory research and process engineering projects for domestic and international corporations, as well for U.S. Government including DoD agencies.
